Use of GPS Systems Now Sanctioned
Use of GPS systems has now been sanctioned by the Royal & Ancient, St. Andrews
for use in competition, and the reason is simple. GPS improves the pace of play and
offers players a precise 'view' of the course - maximising their game options and
their enjoyment. The amendment to the rule came into effect on January 1, 2006.
All club golfers can now enjoy the same benefits of accurate distance
information that was previously limited to tournament professionals.
